California White Sage is from the desert, coastal areas and coastal mountains of California. This particular sage is from the desert area. This is a large leaf sage which is prized for its rich aromatic properties. This sage has the one of the strongest scents and burns with a rich smoke. The use of sage is for healing. The smoke is used to bless, cleanse and heal the person or object being "smudged". Sage is used to "wash off" the outside world when one enters ceremony or other sacred space. Objects are likewise washed off with sage medicine smoke to rid them of unwanted influences.
